A Simple Twist of Fate is, of course, the title of a fantastic Bob Dylan tune from 1975’s “Blood on the Tracks” and may explain both how you ended up on this web page and how I’m writing it. Not that I put much stock in Fate, I’m much more of a Providence man myself. This blog is an attempt to put a collection of thoughts together and see where they go from here. Within the last year I’ve dropped and kept off 35-40 pounds mainly by running. First on a treadmill and then out on the roads of my neighborhood, the wonderful Iroquois Park in Louisville and other runs discovered along the way. It has changed my life and it seems like a good time to put it good use. Also over the years my bookselves have grown, been whittled down and now if the library doesn’t have it, a new read will be bought and then sold on eBay so there’s much to recommend; not to mention music of which there appears to be a wealth of useless info in the back of my mind concerning album track order, release dates, band connections, etc that some people occasionally find to be of interest. The older I get the less I want to have around, material wise, less is less and it feels better without it, except when it comes to family. Eddie Vedder recently said “I’m a lucky man to count on both hands the ones I love…Some folks just have one, others they got none” and I know how he feels. Aside from the luck part as again I’m a Providence man…
